AUSTIN, Texas – Oct. 9, 2003 – Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq:CRUS) announced today that it has filed a patent infringement suit against Wolfson Microelectronics, plc, a United Kingdom company, and Wolfson Microelectronics Ltd., a Delaware corporation, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. The suit relates specifically to certain digital-to-analog converters designed by Wolfson. The complaint alleges that several Wolfson products that incorporate digital-to-analog converters infringe U.S. Patent No. 6,492,928 and U.S. Patent No. 6,011,501, including the following Wolfson products: WM8706, WM8716, WM8718, WM8719, WM8726, WM8727, WM8728, WM8729, WM8740, WM8746, WM8756, WM8759, WM8761, WM8762 and WM8772.

The complaint seeks damages and requests a permanent injunction against Wolfson from making, using, offering to sell or selling in the United States or importing into the United States any infringing products.
