Cirrus Logic, Oregan Networks and InterActual Technologies Demonstrate Enhanced DVD Capability

Cirrus, InterActual and Oregan Networks Team To Demonstrate Enhanced DVD Content at Digital Hollywood

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Sept. 25, 2002 - Bringing to life the promise of broadband-enabled, interactive DVD content in the living room, Cirrus Logic (Nasdaq: CRUS), a leader in entertainment embedded technology, today announced the industry's first Enhanced DVD integrated circuit, the CS98200 family, to support Enhanced DVD technology. Cirrus, Oregan Networks and InterActual Technologies, Inc. are demonstrating Enhanced DVD content enabled by Cirrus' Enhanced DVD chip solution, Oregan Networks' web browser and InterActual's Media Services today at the Digital Hollywood conference at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, Rodeo Room.

As worldwide consumer adoption of broadband technologies continues to accelerate, it's expected that sales of broadband-enabled content services, such as the interactive content offered by Enhanced DVD technology, will also accelerate. Enhanced DVD technology enriches the consumer entertainment experience by blending the complementary features often found on today’s DVD-based content with dynamic Internet content provided by the content owner. Earlier today, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, New Line Home Entertainment, and Warner Home Video announced their support for Enhanced DVD content in future DVD title releases.

"Consumer studies indicate that consumers most enjoy their DVD players because of the many extras offered on today’s discs—such as director and cast interviews, documentaries and games," said Terry Ritchie, vice president of video marketing, Cirrus Logic. "On DVD devices utilizing Cirrus' ICs supporting Enhanced DVD technology, consumers will no longer be confined to being able to access the interactive content only through their PC. Cirrus is the first company to demonstrate the hardware and software technologies that will make the next generation of interactive DVD experiences possible in the living room."

For this demonstration, Cirrus' chip solution features support for web browser technology by Oregan Networks. When selecting the interactive content through its Enhanced DVD-supported device, Oregan Networks's full-featured TV Interactor browser launches, serving as the medium through which consumers will access the special Internet-based interactive content. In addition, Cirrus' Enhanced DVD IC is designed to support broadband access through Ethernet, Digital Subscriber Line and cable modem technologies.

"Oregan is excited to be part of the team behind the launch of this next generation DVD product," said Mark Perry, CEO of Oregan Networks. "This project serves as a perfect example of how embedded web browsing technology can seamlessly integrate interactive services with media entertainment. There is increasing consumer demand for interactive content and services—the challenge is to deliver them in a manner that is both entertaining and effortless to use. The combination of Oregan’s TV Interactor web browser with the latest Cirrus media platforms will meet this exacting requirement."
