AUSTIN, Texas -- February 21, 2001 -- Cirrus Logic (NASDAQ:CRUS)today announced that its Crystal® CS4201 AC’97 audio codec is available with the Intel Desktop Board D810E2CB for value-segment PCs. This integrated digital audio solution delivers PCI sound card quality in a tiny fraction of the board space, reducing cost for Personal Computer manufacturers and systems integrators.

Using CrystalClear™ 4040 drivers, the D810E2CB desktop board supports advanced audio functionality, including 3-D positional audio, AC3 out with S/PDIF and support for Windows and Linux drivers.

Intel’s D810E2CB desktop board enables scaleable integrated FlexATX designs with optional on-board LAN and two PCI slots, providing versatile, cost-effective industrial designs. The new technologies on the board include an optional integrated 82562ET LAN with ICH2 controller that enables a cost-effective networking solution. The Ultra ATA-100 disk support provides fast hard-disk access, and two USB 1.1 controllers and 4 ports increases total connectivity. This versatile platform supports both Intel® Pentium® III and Celeron™ processors in a PGA socket.

The CS4201 AC’97 provides the highest level of integration in an audio codec on the market today. Cirrus Logic provides a significant cost reduction solution with its CS4201 AC’97 audio codec by integrating all of the silicon components, including the headphone amplifier, the microphone pre-amplifier and the clock circuitry.
