Maverick Internet technology offers flexibility, WMA support and security for latest Internet entertainment device

Cirrus Logic Inc.(NASDAQ:CRUS)

the market leader in audio chips worldwide, today announced that its Maverick(tm) system-on-chip (SOC) Internet audio solution will be featured in the new Win-Jam Digital Audio Player from I-Jam Multimedia. The device is the first to exclusively support the Microsoft Windows Media(tm) format.

The Win-Jam device, which Microsoft has been promoting by giving away one free device every day for the month of May, enables users to store twice as much CD-quality music as devices that only support MP3. The player is scheduled to be available in July.

"We are pleased to be working with Cirrus Logic for our new Win-Jam Digital Audio Player," said Doug Marrison, President, I-Jam Multimedia LLC. "Their Maverick system-on-chip Internet audio solution is one of the best technologies available so it was a natural choice for us."

"Our Maverick technology offers flexibility, programmability and security for companies designing products in the Internet age," says Matthew Perry, vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic's Embedded Processors Division. "The selection of our Maverick processor by I-Jam reinforces our position as a leading solution on the market for Internet entertainment devices."

The Maverick processor provides high-quality audio decoding for Microsoft's Windows Media Audio as well as other popular compression formats. As an off-the-shelf market-specific processor (MSP), the Maverick processor features a programmable ARM(R) processor core that allows not only decoding of audio in real time but also provides the ability to run multiple popular operating systems. The Win-Jam Digital Audio Player, which uses iObjects' Dadio digital audio software, is SDMI compatible for the secure transfer and playback of music through the Maverick processor's support of Windows Media digital rights management technology.
