The CS42416/18/26/28 family of 24-bit surround-sound CODECs provides two analog-to-digital (A/D) and six or eight digital-to-analog (D/A) Delta-Sigma converters, as well as an integrated PLL (phase-locked loop) for a low-jitter system clock. This family of products supports sampling rates of up to 192 kHz.
The internal stereo A/D converter is capable of independent channel gain control for single-ended or differential analog outputs. The D/A converters' channels provide digital volume control and differential analog outputs. The general-purpose outputs may be driven high or low or mapped to a variety of D/A converter mute controls or A/D converter overflow indicators.
The CS424XX family provides two D/A performance categories — 110 dB and 114 dB dynamic range — to deliver an effective solution with minimum design changes. The pin-compatible parts can be easily exchanged, depending on the level of performance needed. With the flexibility of the CS42416/18/26/28 family, one board design can target various performance and price levels.
These CODECs are an ideal choice for consumer entertainment electronics such as audio/video receivers, DVD receivers, digital speaker systems and automotive audio systems.
