The CS494xx audio decoder DSP family is a market-specific consumer entertainment processor targeted for audio/video receivers and DVD players. The CS494003 integrates an enhanced version of the CS49300 Family DSP audio decoder and a 32-bit programmable post-processor DSP and allows the designer to differentiate products through the Cirrus Logic Framework programming structure and Framework module library.
Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS Digital Surround, MPEG Multichannel and Cirrus Logic Original Surround 6.1 PCM (pulse code modulation) Effects Processor — the last capable of generating audio modes such as "Hall," "Theater" and "Church" — are included in the cost of the CS49400. Additional algorithms, available through the Cirrus Logic software licensing program, give the designer even more ability to deliver end-product differentiation.
This Cirrus Logic DSP contains sufficient on-chip SRAM to support all major audio decoding algorithms available today, including AAC Multichannel, DTS 96/24 and DTS-ES 96/24. The CS494xx also supports a glueless SDRAM/SRAM for increased all-channel delays. The SRAM interface supports connection to an external byte-wide Flash memory, allowing products to be field-upgradable as new audio algorithms are developed.
The CS494xx, when coupled with Cirrus Logic-certified decoder library, digital interface products and mixed-signal data converters, enables the conception and design of the next-generation of digital entertainment products.
