FREMONT, Calif. -- April 21, 1999 -- Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) today announced that Glenn C. Jones, 53, has been appointed vice president and chief financial officer, replacing Ronald K. Shelton, who has resigned to join a communications systems company in a similar capacity. Jones brings to Cirrus Logic more than 25 years of financial management experience, including four years as CFO for PMC-Sierra Inc. (Nasdaq: PMCS), a successful chipmaker now headquartered in British Columbia.
"We're fortunate to find such a highly qualified replacement for Ron so soon," said David French, president/CEO of Cirrus Logic. "We want to thank Ron for the financial role he has played over the past three years in streamlining our operations, and wish him the very best in his new venture."
French noted that Jones is highly regarded for the role he played in managing the financial functions at Sierra Semiconductor, including the successful re-invention of the company as PMC-Sierra, a chipmaker focused on the communications market.
Jones assumed his first CFO role at Metaphor Computer Systems, and was also general manager of the systems business when IBM acquired it. He subsequently became founding CFO and operations VP at Gain Technology, which was successfully sold to Sybase. Earlier in his career, he held financial management positions with ROLM, Syntex, Memorex and Deloitte and Touche. Jones, a CPA, holds a BS degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Golden Gate University.
