Consumer Electronics Association Selects Craig Ensley of Cirrus Logic for Board of Directors, Audio Division

Semiconductor Industry Veteran to Assist CEA in Their Mission of Growing the CE Industry

LAS VEGAS – International Consumer Electronics Show – Jan. 5, 2005 – Cirrus Logic Inc., (Nasdaq: CRUS), a premier supplier of high-performance analog, mixed-signal and digital processing solutions for consumer entertainment electronics, automotive entertainment and industrial product applications, today announced the appointment of Craig Ensley, senior vice president, Embedded Products Division, to the Audio Division Board of Directors for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The CEA’s audio division is focused on fostering growth and profitability for the manufacturers and distributors of consumer audio products. Ensley, who pioneered technologies to enable high-performance digital audio and multichannel sound to become pervasive through the consumer electronics field, is scheduled to assume the board leadership position on January 1, 2005.

“Mr. Ensley brings to the audio board more than 27 years of semiconductor industry experience centered around analog and DSP IC solutions for audio, industrial and communication markets, ” said Gary Warzin, CEO of Audiophile Systems and Chair of the CEA Audio Division. “His strong background and breadth of expertise will provide the audio division with the strategic direction needed to meet this division’s goals. ”

Cirrus Logic develops processor solutions that enable its customers to go to market quickly at exciting new price points. Two of the company’s latest audio product introductions were recently recognized as honorees in the CEA’s Innovations 2005 Design and Engineering Awards program, including Cirrus’ Intelligent Room Calibration™ (IRC) audio software and CobraNet™ Silicon Series. Cirrus Logic’s IRC audio software is targeted toward mainstream audio/video receivers (AVRs) that typically sell for less than $1,000, and resolves many cumbersome set up processes associated with the limitations of the home-- all within about one minute. The CobraNet Silicon Series of products make it possible for commercial and professional audio manufacturers to significantly lower the cost of deploying networked audio systems via a single-IC approach.

The CEA represents more than 1,750 companies within the U.S. consumer technology industry. The organization provides valuable resources to members including market research, promotional and educational programs, technical standards and representation before federal, state and local government to promote and advance the concerns of today’s consumer electronic companies. CEA also produces the annual International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s largest showcase for consumer technology.

“Cirrus is pleased to have been given the opportunity to help shape the direction of CEA’s audio division, ” said Ensley. “From industry issues surrounding standards and copyright protection, to furthering educational opportunities for manufacturers and consumers, this coming year stands to be an exciting one for all involved in consumer electronics. ”
