Cirrus Logic Generates $18 Million Through Sale of Certain Patent Assets

Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2004 Cash Guidance Increased

AUSTIN, Texas – Feb. 9, 2004 – Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS) today announced that it has sold certain United States and foreign patents for $18 million. The patents that were sold relate to a portion of Cirrus Logic’s patent portfolio developed as part of a business that Cirrus Logic exited several years ago. After the completion of this patent sale, Cirrus Logic’s patent portfolio continues to include more than 1,100 issued and pending United States patents.

“We are pleased that we could further strengthen our balance sheet through this transaction. After paying expenses associated with the transaction, we expect to end our current quarter with total cash ranging between $194 million to $198 million, an increase from $180 million at the end of the prior quarter,” said David D.
