Cirrus Logic Kicks Off CES 2003 with Best of Innovation Award, Major Product Launches and Prime Speaking Engagements

LAS VEGAS – Consumer Electronics Show – January 9, 2003 – Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS), will demonstrate the latest in digital entertainment semiconductor technology, including a groundbreaking new digital video recording solution and a new family of surround-sound CODECs, at the 2003 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Also on display will be three Cirrus products recently recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) for excellence in the design of leading-edge consumer electronics technologies.

Cirrus CES Product Introductions
Cirrus will launch two new products at CES 2003: a digital video recording solution that could dramatically lower retail prices for DVD recorder/players in 2003, and a new family of surround-sound CODECs that enables higher audio performance and lower system costs in audio/video receivers (AVRs), DVD receivers and automotive audio systems by integrating non-DSP silicon onto one chip.

• DVD+RW Recording Platform Solution: Cirrus’ feature-rich DVD+RW recording platform solution is designed to help consumer electronics manufacturers accelerate widespread adoption of low-cost DVD+RW recording products.
• New 6- and 8-Channel Surround-Sound CODECs: Cirrus’ new highly integrated, cost-effective surround-sound CODECs are designed to give OEMs a range of products that deliver multichannel 192 kHz DVD-Audio capability while helping manufacturers accelerate time to market.

Cirrus Executives Presenting at CES 2003
Cirrus executives are scheduled to participate in two show panels that will examine the future of consumer electronics technologies:

• Thursday, January 9, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.: David French, Cirrus Logic president and CEO, will participate in the CES-sponsored Tomorrow’s Technologies SuperSession. The panel discussion will take place in the North Hall, Room N257 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
• Saturday, January 11, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Terry Leeder, Cirrus Logic senior vice president of Sales and Marketing, will participate in the Digital Hollywood panel titled Evolution of DVD Technology. The discussion will take place in the North Hall, Room N261 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

CES Award-Winning Products
Cirrus also recently announced that its CS7410 Music Processor and USB-DVR 2.0 Reference Design have been recognized as honorees in the Innovations 2003 Design and Engineering Showcase. In addition to being named as an Innovations honoree, Cirrus’ EP7312-90 Digital Entertainment Processor was selected as the overall Best of Innovations winner in the Software/Embedded Technologies product category.

Presented in conjunction with CES, the Innovations 2003 competition recognizes excellence in the design of leading-edge consumer electronics technologies. All three Cirrus Innovations honorees will be on display during the show in Innovations Booth #55083 of the Las Vegas Hilton, as well as in the Best of Innovations kiosk located in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Hilton Center through January 12, 2003.
