AUSTIN, Texas – May 15, 2002 – Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS) today announced that Starlight Electronics Co. Ltd. has selected its CS98010 DVD processor, CS4340 digital-to-analog converter and CS4955 digital video encoder to power the new Starlight DVD-105, a top-loading DVD player for North American markets. Starlight will make the player available to original design manufacturing (ODM) customers, who will sell the player under various brand names.

Hong Kong-based Starlight Electronics Co. Ltd. is a manufacturer and marketer of high-quality, value-priced consumer electronic products to leading importers and retailers world-wide. With ODM customers including direct mass merchandisers and retailers, the company offers a broad line of audio/video and telecommunications products, including DVD units, home audio systems, compact disc and MP3 players, television sets, and other consumer electronics products.

The design win builds on Cirrus’ momentum in the DVD player market, where the company’s processors are incorporated into designs by a number of market-leading manufacturers of DVD players, such as Bose, Cyber Home and Shanghai Video & Audio Electronics.

Production of the Starlight DVD-105 began in April. The design win provides Starlight with a powerful chipset that helps the company deliver a compact, cost-effective DVD player with a sophisticated feature set to its ODM customers.

The CS98010 is designed for DVD players and DVD subsystems delivering standard DVD features as well as additional functionality such as MP3 and JPEG functions at a competitive price. The processor provides all necessary audio and video processing functions and formats including MP3 decoding, Dolby Digital and DTS support, virtual 3-D and multi-region on-screen display (OSD) with vertical flicker filter in a compact 128 pin package.
