TOKYO -- Oct. 6, 1999 - Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) today announced the promotion of Hitoshi Yoshida, 50, to the post of president, Cirrus Logic K.K, (CLKK). In assuming the top position at the Tokyo-based office, Yoshida will direct sales and marketing for a broad portfolio of semiconductor products, including those designed for optical storage, audio, industrial, and embedded processor applications.

Formerly CLKK's vice president of sales and marketing for mass storage products, Yoshida replaces Robert V. Dickinson, who has been serving as interim CLKK president since last March. Dickinson was recently named vice president and general manager of Cirrus Logic's newly formed Optical Storage Division, based in Fremont, California.

"Japan continues to be an important and expanding market for our leading-edge integrated circuits, said Terry Leeder, vice president of worldwide sales for Cirrus Logic. "As our CLKK office prepares to usher in its second decade of service, I am confident that Yoshida-san will provide the leadership to further strengthen our commitment to serve Japanese customers."

Yoshida brings more than 25 years of Japanese semiconductor experience to his new post. Since joining Cirrus Logic in March of 1998, he has played a key role in propelling the company into market share leadership with CD-R/RW encoder/decoder chips, and helping to secure the first design win for its innovative 3Ci, single-chip hard disk drive, solution.

Prior to joining Cirrus Logic, Yoshida held management positions for several top electronics companies, most notably SGS-Thomson Japan and Texas Instruments Japan. Yoshida ended his tenure at Texas Instruments as the manager of audio and video system marketing.

Yoshida has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Hokkaido University and is a member of the Institute of Image Information & Television Engineers.
