AUSTIN, Texas - March 6, 2002 - Cirrus Logic, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS) further solidified its position as a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for the digital entertainment revolution by announcing today that it has again achieved compliance with ISO 9002:1994 -- a globally recognized gold standard for quality assurance. The company has been ISO 9002:1994 certified since 1998, and recently completed re-testing for this certification with 100% conformance to all standards.
Additionally, Cirrus has announced its intention to pursue ISO 9001:2000 certification on a company-wide basis, involving all of the company’s recently acquired divisions, including the former ShareWave, LuxSonor, and Stream Machine companies.
The planned company-wide migration to ISO 9001:2000, with a targeted certification date in the second half of 2003, would expand certification to quality management systems throughout the entire company and hold all management processes to a single, stringent ISO standard. Cirrus’ ISO 9001 migration includes plans to achieve certification to the ISO TS-16949 standard, which would apply to the company’s automotive digital entertainment offerings.
"Cirrus Logic takes seriously the external validation of the quality of our management systems," said David French, president and chief executive officer of Cirrus Logic. "Leading the digital entertainment revolution requires a commitment to quality, and our ISO certification serves as evidence of this commitment."
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) membership involves the national standards bodies of more than 91 countries. ISO certification by an accredited registrar assures that business processes meet the ISO standards for quality management. The ISO 9001 standard includes design and development processes, while the ISO 9002 standard sets requirements for production, installation and service processes.
To complete the ISO certification process, Cirrus successfully completed an on-site audit conducted by an accredited independent third party. The company was awarded ISO 9002:1994 certificate number 98-1212b, which is valid through Dec. 15, 2003.
