AMSTERDAM – Audio Engineering Society Show – May 14, 2001 – Demonstrating its commitment to helping consumer electronics companies bring high quality products to market in record time, Cirrus Logic (Nasdaq: CRUS) is now providing the first complete DVD Solution Kit for manufacturers looking for a Total Entertainment (Total-E™) package.
Cirrus Logic is the first manufacturer to provide a complete DVD system solution that meets all performance and feature requirements for both mainstream and high-end DVD-Video and DVD-Audio products. This new system solution includes a broad range of popular Crystal® brand products such as DVD Processors, Class-D Amplifiers, Data Converters, and Digital Interface Components including new product offerings that include the CS5333 Stereo A/D Converter and the CS4360 six-channel D/A Converter.
New Converter Products
The Crystal CS4360 is a new multi-channel audio digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that delivers six channels of high-quality analog output and supports 192kHz input sample rates for compliance with the DVD-Audio standard. Available in a 28-pin TSSOP or 28-pin SOIC package, the CS4360 includes such features as digital volume control and Popguard™, a proprietary feature that eliminates audible clicks and pops in a manufacturers system.
The Crystal CS5333 is a new two-channel 24-bit, 96kHz audio analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that is ideal for DVD players that include microphone inputs for karaoke support. The CS5333 is available in a low profile 16-pin TSSOP package, provides high quality audio data conversion, and consumes very little power, (11mW at 1.8V supply).
The entire solution is built around the CS98000 (98K) DVD processor that provides all necessary audio and video processing functions including MP-3 decoding, Dolby Digital, DTS output support, virtual 3-D and multi-region on-screen display (OSD) with vertical flicker filter. With a customer programmable RISC core and 32-bit programmable audio DSP, the 98K can support all CD formats, DVD navigation, disk control, video decoding, and up to eight channel output. When combined with Crystal’s advanced mixed-signal data converters, Class-D Amplifiers, DSPs and factory firmware, this integrated solution enables manufacturers to rapidly design and bring to market new consumer electronics products such as DVD A/V mini-systems, home media controllers, combination DVD players and automotive/SUV entertainment units.
“Our Total-E DVD Solution Kit provides a complete Crystal brand DVD solution for manufacturers with solutions for all performance levels – mainstream consumer to high performance professional,” stated Lew Paceley, vice president of marketing for the Consumer Products Division. “We have the expertise and total system support to bring a Total-Entertainment package to the market.”
