AUSTIN, TEXAS – February 9, 2001 – Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS), the world leader in analog and DSP (digital signal processing) chips for the consumer audio market, today announced the grand opening of its new systems engineering center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Employees at the new facility will provide engineering leadership for the Cirrus expansion into a new line of video semiconductor components used in consumer electronic products, such as DVD players and A/V receivers.
“Cirrus Logic chose Fort Wayne because of it’s rich electronics heritage and high concentration of engineers with deep experience in DSP and video processing,’” said Jason Carlson, vice president and general manager for the Consumer Products Division. “It offers a quality of life that appeals to current and prospective Cirrus Logic employees and their families. Fort Wayne is centrally located, within 160 miles of several major metropolitan areas, and is in proximity to several important Cirrus Logic customers.”
The grand opening celebration will be held on February 9 at the Hilton Hotel, Fort Wayne Convention Center, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Demonstrations of popular consumer electronic devices will showcase Cirrus Logic products. Ribbon cutting honors will go to the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce at 1 p.m., followed by brief speeches by Cirrus Logic executives and Karl LaPan, president of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center. Transportation will be provided for on-site tours of the new facility.
