AUSTIN, TEXAS – February 7, 2001 – Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) has obtained authorization from Microsoft to use the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Lab’s (WHQL) Quick-Sign process on behalf of Cirrus Logic’s customers. Cirrus Logic obtained this authorization by maintaining an outstanding record of previous hardware submissions to WHQL and fulfilling the strict requirements outlined in the certification process. Cirrus Logic provides analog and digital semiconductor solutions for Internet entertainment electronics, and this new certification expands the scope of value-added services Cirrus Logic can provide to its customers that incorporate Cirrus Logic® devices in their products.
As part of the “Designed for Windows” logo program, the Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Lab was established to ensure the compatibility of hardware with Microsoft Operating Systems. In establishing this process, WHQL offered Cirrus Logic the opportunity to qualify for the Quick-Sign program. The Quick-Sign program, a Web-based digital signing program, allows Cirrus Logic to provide an accelerated method for submitting and receiving digitally signed catalog files required for “Designed for Windows” logo certification. In most cases, these certifications are received within forty-eight hours of submission.
As a new service to its customers, Cirrus Logic will also provide complete system level WHQL submissions on the customer’s behalf, to accelerate their time-to-market and logo certification process.
“Today's equipment manufacturers turn to Cirrus Logic as much for the value added services we provide as for our excellence in audio electronics,” said Keith Essency, vice president and general manager for the Crystal® Computer Audio Division. “Earning the Microsoft Quick-Sign certification was a challenging, but important, step for Cirrus Logic as we continue to expand the scope of services we provide to the world’s leading electronics companies.”
