AUSTIN, Texas – September 18, 2000 – Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS), the world’s market leader in audio chips, today announced the company has entered into a joint marketing agreement with International Rectifier (NYSE: IRF), the power conversion experts, to develop a complete system solution for digital Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) power amplifiers. The new digital PWM from Cirrus Logic represents a significant advancement in Crystal® audio technology that reduces power requirements for audio amplifiers, dramatically improves sound quality and reduces cost and complexity of design for audio applications.

Under the terms of the agreement, Cirrus Logic will work with International Rectifier to incorporate International Rectifier’s power driver ICs and MOSFETs into a complete system level solution that includes Cirrus Logic’s new digital PWM amplifiers, software and hardware support. The two companies also will co-develop a new power driver IC optimized for PWM technology and will develop additional products to meet customer needs.

The agreement will allow Cirrus Logic to offer manufacturers a complete end-to-end solution for designing, building and manufacturing the next generation of amplifiers that are smaller, more power efficient and produce a higher quality of sound than existing technology today.
