FREMONT, Calif. -- Nov. 12, 1998 -- Cirrus Logic Inc. (Nasdaq: CRUS) today confirmed that the latest Market Share report from Mercury Research1, a market research firm in Scottsdale, Arizona, shows that Cirrus Logic's Crystal PC audio chips have captured the number one market share position for 1998.

According to Mercury Research, "In 1998, Cirrus Logic gained nearly six points, moving to 25.5 percent from 19.9 percent in the previous year. If you count its shipments of AC '97 codecs, of which it shipped several million units in 1998, Cirrus Logic would be the largest unit supplier of PC audio devices."
