FREMONT, Calif., -- Aug. 25, 1998 -- Strengthening its position as a leading provider of ARM-based products, Cirrus Logic Inc., (NASDAQ:CRUS)

today announced that its ARM-based system-on-chip, the PS7500FE, was selected by the Internet technology company, Teknema Inc., for its Internet TV Set-Top Box. Targeted at the growing information appliance market, the Teknema Internet TV Set-Top Box provides simple and inexpensive access to the Internet for a wide variety of applications, such as online banking, hospitality and education. Teknema has been selling its Internet TV Set-Top Box to consumers since January of this year. The product is in mass distribution throughout Sweden, Norway and Italy. More recently, Telcel of Venezula, a Bell South company and the largest cellular telephone service provider in Venezula, signed on to distribute the Teknema Internet TV Set-Top box to consumers throughout Venezuela.

Teknema chose Cirrus Logic's PS7500FE device because it provides a highly-integrated solution that combines major system components onto a single chip. The PS7500FE incorporates a 32-bit ARM RISC processor with advanced peripheral functions, including a floating point co-processor, a display controller, a complete memory controller, and direct interfaces to modem and LAN devices.
