AUSTIN, Tex. – October 4, 2000 – Cirrus Logic Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) today announced that Steven D. Overly has joined the company as senior vice president, human resources and general counsel.

“Steve’s strong business and legal background, along with his extensive international experience, will be extremely valuable as we continue to move forward,” said David D. French, president and chief executive officer.

Before joining Cirrus Logic, Steve spent two years with International Wireless Communications, Inc., Morgan Hill, CA., most recently as president. He also worked for six years with Lockheed Martin Telecommunications, a division of Lockheed Martin Corporation, Sunnyvale, CA., leaving there as vice president and general counsel. At the General Electric Company for three years, Steve was division general counsel for GE Astro Space and GE Aircraft Electronics and Defense Systems. He also served as general counsel for Martin Marietta Space Launch Systems from 1986 to 1990.

He began his career at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, clerked for the Honorable Robert J. Yock at the U.S. Claims Court, and practiced in a private law firm. Steve’s educational background includes a master’s of law degree in international business transactions from Georgetown University Law Center, 1984; a law degree from Stetson University College of Law, 1982; a master’s of public administration degree from Pennsylvania State University, 1982; and a bachelor of arts degree, political science, from Gettysburg College, 1979.
